Brooke Shields was born on 31 May 1965 in New York. Her early career was managed by her mother, Teri Shields, a small-time actress who placed her daughter in front of the camera before she was even one. As the Ivory Snow baby, Brooke Shields was once considered the "most beautiful baby in America.

Shields made her film debut, after years of modeling, at the age of 12 with Alice Sweet Alice. She went on to King of the Gypsies (1978), “the best acting of her career” with Pretty Baby (1978), Wanda Nevada (1979), and stardom with The Blue Lagoon (1980).

In 1978, Brooke Shields made her film debut in Louis Malle’s Pretty Baby and followed it up with high-profile roles in The Blue Lagoon (1980) and Endless Love (1981). Meanwhile, Shields caused a sensation with her advertisements for Calvin Klein jeans, in which she claimed that nothing came between her and her Calvins.

Between the years of 1980 and 1985, she appeared on more than 250 magazine covers internationally. In 1997 and 1998 she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, and was also nominated for The American Comedy Awards’ Funniest Female Performer in a Television Series – Leading Role and has also won five People’s Choice Awards – Favorite Young Performer in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984 and Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series in 1997.

Shields is author of two books, The Brooke Book and On Your Own. She has even taken to the stage, in a Broadway revival of Grease.

After love affairs with Michael Jackson, Liam Neeson, Prince Albert of Monaco, and Michael Bolton, Brooke Shields married tennis star Andre Agassi in April 1997. The two were separated less than two years later, and the marriage ended in divorce.
