Cybill Shepherd was born on 02/18/1950 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Cybill Shepherd's pre-acting career included a runner-up stint in the Miss Teenage America pageant and seemingly thousands of modelling gigs, most prominently for Cover Girl makeup
She was spotted on a magazine cover by film director Peter Bogdanovich, who selected her to play a small town heartbreaker in his prestigious 1971 film, 'The Last Picture Show'. Shepherd was praised for her cinematic debut, though the reviews devoted more space to her diving-board striptease than her lines.
She was 1966 Miss Teenage Memphis winner. Won the 1968 Model of the Year. When she was 19 she dated Elvis Presley a few times.
From 1995-1998 she starred as "Cybill Sheridan," in the CBS sitcom "Cybill" where she played a forty-something actress trying to keep her career afloat in an industry that worships youth. This ground breaking show poked fun at topics such as plastic surgery, menopause, sex in your 40's, divorce and grandmotherhood.
Cybill Shepherd has starred in numerous acclaimed television productions, including "Journey of the Heart," "While Justice Sleeps," "Baby Brokers," "There Was A Little Boy," "Stormy Weathers" (which she also executive produced) "Which Way Home for TNT," the mini-series "The Long Hot Summer" and "Telling Secrets." Additionally, Shepherd executive produced, co-wrote and starred in "Memphis," based on Shelby Foote's novel September, September.
Shepherd has continued to appear in films and TV movies of variable quality, also becoming a favoured and most entertaining guest on the talk-show circuit, and writing her autobiography.
